Success stories from our students

5 - 6 Year Olds

Jarrod

Jarrod had just entered his second year of school and had no reading. He knew only two words.Readwell identified the visual perceptual cause and developed a specialized program. Within two weeks Jarrod was beginning to read. Three months later he had caught up with his peers and was ahead of many. His mother Di said "His teachers and the school couldn't believe it. They all wanted to know what happened".

Brian

Brian new only 5 letters of the alphabet and could only read his own name. Bruce diagnosed that he had an ocular problem as well as visual and auditory problems. After only two weeks he knew all the alphabet and began his reading program. This took only 10 weeks. His teacher was amazed at his progress and the fact he wanted a 'reading book' every night.

7 Year Olds

Belinda

Belinda was around one year behind with her reading, but her MATH(s) was extremely poor. After repairing the word attack problem with her READING (which caught up in only 4 weeks), Bruce diagnosed that Belinda had very poor basic numeration and number facts. Bruce designed a program for her parents to use 5 times a week for around 20 minutes per day. Recently her mum and dad informed Bruce that Belinda had moved up to the top 20% in her class after previously being in the bottom 10%. Belinda was given a merit award by her teacher.

Josh

Josh's mother was frantic. Her son had completed 3 years of school but could read only a few words. He had been on every program the school could offer, with no success. Facing the prospects of a private program costing $6600, a friend told her about READWELL. At the end of 12 weeks Josh had progressed to level 22 books at school, putting him ahead of more than half his class. His parents now tell everyone they know about Josh's incredible progress.

Ryan

Ryan was a year behind and his school said he would catch up. His parents were concerned so contacted Bruce. In only 8 weeks Ryan's reading had increased three years. His confidence had grown and he no longer asked for help with his homework.

Rebecca

Rebecca didn't like being called an average reader. Her friends were better readers. After 6 weeks on the READWELL program Rebecca had moved up 8 levels of reading. Her friends were jealous so they too went on the READWELL program. All of the students had a weakness with their word attack skills, ie they couldn't break up big words.

Billy

Billy hated reading because he only wanted to know about trucks. READWELL diagnosed his weak areas and developed a program based on his love of trucks and cars. Within 10 weeks Billy was even able to look up the classifieds in the newspaper and magazines, but he even began reading adventure books.

Harriet

Harriet wanted to improve her school marks. READWELL designed a program to improve her reading but also taught Harriet how to study. Harriet's marks improved 23% in her next tests.

Teenagers

Hank

16 year old Hank was beginning to get in trouble with the law because he was constantly skipping school. Juvenile authorities discovered Hank had the 'reading age' of an 8 year old. He was told that if he undertook a reading program he may avoid detention. READWELL designed a program based around Hank's interests: cars, basketball and video games. After 10 weeks of only 40 minutes per day his reading had reached an appropriate level. He even returned to school and made new friends.

Parents may also be absent because of health reasons, poor parenting skills or a variety of personal problems.
